I was always into music and the idea of learning an instrument one day, and once I started at age 9 I was hooked. I know that a big part of this was because of my teacher. Throughout these years, Jon had a way of guiding me through my musical journey without it seeming like a chore, or like homework. I realise now that he recognised my enthusiasm, and always knew how to challenge me enough, making sure the fundamentals of my playing were being hit, whilst keeping things captivating and fun.

In our private lessons, we covered material from blues and jazz tunes (some arranged by Jon himself), to Muse. Pieces are written out clearly to understand for students at any level. Much to my teen attitude at times, I was always encouraged to learn theoretically what was going on too; chord progressions, particular extended chords etc.. At the time I didn’t know why this would help. I can confirm now, help is an understatement (!!!)

Jon’s ability to teach small children, mature musicians wanting to brush up on their playing, and anyone in between, is a rarity. I cannot recommend his lessons enough. I will always cherish the early years of my learning, thanks to Jon.

Jon is an absolutely stellar guitar teacher. I’ve ‘known’ Jon since he taught in my middle school, some what 20 years or so ago. When my little lad asked for lessons, I knew there was only one man for the job!

I queried Jaxon’s age as he is only 5 – however Jon reassured me that if Jax has the want to learn, he can teach!

Jon is incredibly patient. He has listened to everything Jaxon has said to him, and even after lesson one, had prepared my sons favourite song ‘the duck song’ in simple terms for him to play. This went down a right treat!

Jon’s incredible musical talents allows him to adapt any tune, for any musical ability. We are now working on dance monkey and chasing cars. I’ve even picked up a few tips to help Jax along the way!

I would 100% recommend Jon Buck Guitar. Fantastic teacher and all round good guy!

My 13 year old son has had guitar tuition with Jon for 7 years, online and in-person through lock-down and beyond. Jon has always shown Saint-like levels of patience and has gone to great lengths to keep my son engaged, gently nudging him along as he learns at his own pace.

Jon is an incredible guitarist and a knowledgeable and insightful tutor. I believe he carefully builds and maintains just the right kind of tutor/student relationship to ensure his students enjoy the session and come away feeling proud of themselves and inspired to play more.

I really enjoy guitar lessons and I have learnt lots of new songs. I was really happy when Jon taught me the duck song.

Jon is really kind to me, even when I fidget! I really love doing slides on the guitar too!

But the best bit is seeing Charlie the dog haha.

Jon has been teaching my son guitar for a couple of years now, and we can’t recommend him highly enough.

Jon really inspires his pupils and makes every lesson fun. George has made huge progress and I’d recommend Jon to anyone.

I booked Full9Yards for the evening for our wedding in June and we highly recommend them. They were absolutely fantastic and got everyone up dancing. Everyone has said how good they were. Thank you again Full9Yards for a great night.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for last night, the music was fantastic.  Lots of people commented on how great the band were and asked what you were called, it is Full9Yards, isn’t it?

Thanks for playing so many great songs and for incorporating Footloose, which as you saw was a great hit with Kev and many others.  It was so lovely to see lots of people on the dance floor all night, you created a great atmosphere and the three of you sounded brilliant.

It was lovely to have Matt there too and to have the two of you playing at the start of the evening, you’re such a good duo. Thanks for all the organising you did and for helping create such a great night.

Jake and Jess (bride and groom)

Jon and his band Full9Yards were excellent throughout the whole of our wedding, from guitar duets after the ceremony through to canapés, to setting up quietly and efficiently for the evening slot, you’d have never known they were there bringing all the gear in.

And during the evening, not only did they get everyone up on the dance floor and involved, they also let the groom join them for a song on the drums! Would gladly have again and certainly recommend.
